Where did you get the idea for Mama See Mama Do?
After the birth of my first child, I experienced this overwhelming need to create. I am not sure where it came from, but I do know this–making things with my hands allows me to exercise control, create meaning out of chaos, and remain sane.

As I started revisiting some of my favorite blogs to see who else is out there in the Crafting/DIY blogosphere, I started noticing a pattern. There are a lot of moms like me that enjoy learning how to make something from tutorials on the internet–A LOT. So much so, in fact, that an image popped into my head of all the coffee mugs, ponytails, and yoga pants that were out there scouring the internet for fun stuff to make on the el cheapo. Since I was bookmarking projects right and left, and even finding time to make a few projects, I decided to write a blog about each piece I try.

When do you find time to make this stuff?
My little one isn’t quite mobile yet, and she is just as happy as can be gnawing on computer cords and grabbing dog hair off the carpet while I sew. I kid, I kid (not really). I also schedule sewing time in the evenings when hubs is home. I owe a lot of my crafting time to the NFL.

Why are you such a cheapwad?
Think about it this way–I don’t have to pay for things that are already in my house. For instance, if I want to etch some pint glasses, I go shopping in my kitchen cabinets. It’s more out of laziness, really. If I leave my house, my 5 month-old buddy comes with me. Also, sauntering out would require me to find something to wear in public. It’s easier to remain in my John Deere fleece pajama pants and look for stuff in my house!

What are your hopes for the future of Mama See Mama Do?
This blog is more than just an online space for me to post what I make–it’s a chance for me to reach out to you and say, “Hey, I see you out there! I like what you’re doing.”

I have big plans for Mama See Mama Do. I hope you come back often and like what you see.  I hope you enjoy discovering a project for yourself, or learning a new skill you previously didn’t know how to do.

So go check your bookmarks folder (I KNOW you have some bookmarks stashed somewhere) and get started!

I love the name of your blog! The onesies with the tie are super cute and such a good idea! I want to see more pictures of the taggies when you get a chance!

    Hi Lucy,

I found your website. How great. I will file name under my favorites to check it out. Of course, I am not nearly as computer savy as you are.

It was wonderful seeing you, Michael and Hannah Claire today. Hannah Claire is a doll and we really enjoy seeing her grow.

Hello there and thanks for all the comments you left on my blog a few weeks back! It’s taken a little while to track down your comments, my apologies… but now I’m going to have fun looking around the blog of my apparent long-lost twin!
